BNF paper – global range higher (141 TgN)

I contacted GBC about this back in October 2020. I am posting the correction / corregendum here.

In the paper “The Global Distribution of Biological Nitrogen Fixation in Terrestrial Natural Ecosystems” by Davies‐Barnard, T., & Friedlingstein, P. (Global Biogeochemical Cycles, 2020, 34(3), e2019GB006387), a bug in code was found that affected the 75% interquartile range global total estimate only, increasing the value from 130 to 141 Tg N year-1. This does not affect the conclusions of the paper. The corrected text should read:

Key Point #3: Global terrestrial biological nitrogen fixation is likely in the range of 52 – 141 Tg N per year.

Abstract: The range (52–141 Tg N year −1 ) encompasses most recent estimates and broadly agrees with recent independent top‐down estimates of BNF.

p.11 This results in a global value of 88 Tg N year −1 and an interquartile range of 52–141 Tg N year −1 .
